Welcome again to the Rose Blossom Blog Hop celebrating the Stamp of the Month Purr-fect Halloween. If you’ve arrived from Morgan’s TweetScraps, you are heading in the right direction, and I know that she has created something awesome for you tonight!
I have to be honest. I was really having a hard time finding inspiration for this stamp set, and I just couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with it. So I decided to call in the big guns — my nephew Ryan. He has a certain je ne sais quoi (French theme tonight) about him when it comes to artistic flair. He loves to create with the Cricut when he comes to my house, and we have made such wonderful things as purple cows with party hats, turkey-bears, and green pigs. I called Ryan and told him I was having a creative block and asked what I should do with the cat. He told me I should make a pink cat with jewels, so here you are.
This is the inspiration for the pink cat with jewels. My sister and her family recently traveled to France, and this ad was prevalent in the Paris subway, so Ryan was on the constant lookout for the pink cat. Ryan also happened to just celebrate his 7th birthday, so he will be the recipient of this card. Inside will include a picture of him in the subway with said cat.
I want to share a couple of techniques I used on this card. First of all I stamped the cat in our Smoothie pigment ink, and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. What a great way to get the colored embossed look without having to buy different colored embossing powders! Also, because they are small pads, I was able to not ink the nose, so I could stamp that black separately. Now you may notice that the stamp below says Have a purr-fect Halloween, but the card is a birthday card. I did not mask, I CUT THE STAMP. Yes, you can do this. It’s okay. Do not be afraid. It was easy, and I now have a more versatile stamp set. I used Birthday from the Happy To Be Friends stamp (another versatile set) to finish off the card. I used our ShinHan markers to color the cat, and the clear sparkles. This is another great way to get the color sparkles you need for any project without having to go out and buy them in every color.
As always, the Purr-fect Halloween Stamp of the Month is only $5.00 with any $50.00 purchase, and it really was fun creating with it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit. Now it’s off to Brenda’s Rose Blossom Legacies. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!
